My good friend, and pastor, Mike is always talking about how much he's ready to settle down. He just can't seem to meet the right person. That is why I have decided to enter him in Kelly's Korner: SUYL (with permission of course!)
Mike is 23, working on his masters degree at HBU and a freshman Bible teacher at a private high school. He is also my pastor. You might think we're crazy for having such a youngin lead us, but if you hear his sermons, you'll know exactly where his words are coming from.
The first thing I think about when I think of Mike is his HUGE heart for others:
In the summer, Mike serves at Camp Blessing. Last summer, he spent an entire week with Spencer (pictured). Spencer is non-verbal autistic, but he and Mike have grown very close over the past few years at camp.
Mike loves Jesus, his church, as well as hanging out, playing/watching sports and music. In a lot of ways he is a typical 20 something. He just happens to have a spiritual maturity that you wouldn't believe.

She loves Jesus with her whole heart, and is very involved in her young adult small group at church. Lauren teaches elementary school in College Station and has a bubbly, joyful personality. I love my chosen career and am very passionate about helping kids. Although I live in Orlando, I am willing to live wherever life takes me after graduation. =) Last time there was a SUYL with Kelly's Korner, I saw Mike but didn't have the guts to post. But, when I saw him again, I knew I just had to comment!
Mike seems like a great guy and we seem to have a lot in common. I am a Christian and my favorite things to do are spend time with my family and friends, who mean the world to me, run (which I just got into within the last 6 months), go to the beach, and just hang out.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Katy and I am 24 years old. I live in Grapevine, TX (right between Dallas and Fort Worth). I just finished my masters degree in social work last May. While I was in graduate school, the Lord led me to an internship at an amazing non-profit organization. In May, when my internship was over, the organization (www.6stones.org) hired me as a full-time social worker.
My passion is to love God and love people. I never would have thought that I'd be where I am today, but God has definitely led me here and I am loving it! I spend each day serving with an awesome team of believers and I have the opportunity to love on people that are hurting and in need.
When I'm not working, I love to spend time with my family and friends. I love hanging out with kids (and being one of them!). I also enjoy reading, being outside, watching the Dallas Mavericks, and being crafty.

ReplyDeleteHey, my name is Ally. I am 21 I'll be 22 next month. I don't really think I'm interested in dating Mike because I live in NJ and he lives in Houston. I'm also a little apprehensive about this whole meeting someone online thing. However, I have a huge heart for ministry and I am intrigued by him being a Pastor at 23. I want to know about his family, and when he came to know Jesus, and when he felt God call him to ministry. We just got a new pastor in our church he is 33 married with 3 kids, and it was an adjustment for our congregation having such a new "young" pastor- but he rocks and is speaking the truth, and God is using him in remarkable ways. And then I read about Mike being 23 lol that is much younger than our pastor! That's really cool! I love God. He works in the coolest ways! Through the most ordinary of people!

They just seem to have a lot in common and they seem to have a common vision...from what I read on your blog anyway. Emily is wonderful...she has a solid relationship with Christ and follows Him passionately. The man she marries will have to be solid and not just a church goer, but a man passionate about following Christ. She loves people and especially children.
